In this updated version of Music Ace, a cartoon composer guides kids through colorful practice lessons and games that are bursting with potential kid appeal.

Beginning music students will enjoy learning to read and listen to music. Music Ace Deluxe complements traditional music lessons by turning note reading and listening skills into fun, interactive games. Through repetition and emphasis on listening to music, students build basic skills needed to successfully play and appreciate music. Learners also develop confidence and inspiration by writing and hearing their own unique musical compositions.

Educational Value

Students learn how to read, hear, and compose piano music. Music Ace Deluxe is a valuable teaching and practice tool for young beginner piano players. It is a good supplement to piano lessons to help teach students how to read notes, understand pitch and tone, and compose music. The Music Doodle Pad allows users to apply what they have learned from the lessons and compose their own musical pieces that can be saved, then played back as desired.

Music Ace Deluxe does not replace actual piano lessons or practice on a piano, but it’s a good tool to teach children how to read and hear music.

Kid Appeal

Kids really responded to the colorful and playful aspects of the practice exercises and games. Younger players liked the smiley-face notes that play music when selected with the mouse. Some older players opted to using a setting preference that “turns off” the smiley faces from the notes. Kids sometimes found the narrator to be a bit annoying, but liked the game as a whole.

Ease of Use / Install

It was easy to install and get started with Music Ace Deluxe. The CD instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The ease of use builds confidence in students, by getting them started quickly.

Best for... / Bottom-Line

This program is best-suited for ages 4-12. Younger children will benefit from the repetition of exercises, though older children and teens may find some of the games too easy.
