What does 'surfing the net' mean?

When your computerphile friends talk about their kids surfing the net, they are speaking of doing what you did to find this page -- browsing the World Wide Web (WWW). The WWW is a part of the Internet that offers multimedia data in a special format -- it's really just a portion of the Internet. But because the Internet itself is so incredibly huge, even a piece of it like the Web offers lots of places to explore. And that's the reason for this regular feature of SuperKids -- providing parents, teachers and kids with a source of ideas for interesting locations to begin their exploration.

And to prove the power of the net, we'd like to solicit your suggestions as well! Send them to webmaster@SuperKids.com, and we'll pass on some of the more interesting ones.

Happy surfing!
