What toddler wouldn’t delight in having a host of Sesame Street characters to play with at whim? Here they are in a pleasingly interactive program that delivers large amounts of education, entertainment and fun!

Sesame Street Toddlers Deluxe features three disks, each with its own unique theme, and each packed with activities. "Art Workshop" includes basic paint program options in a simple, easy to use format. With Elmo as guide, toddlers can choose to create a painting, decorate a scene with stickers, color a picture, or outfit Sesame Street characters in outrageous costumes. Bright colors, interesting textures and shapes, and favorite themes provide endless exploration possibilities. Large on-screen buttons allow users to learn computer skills as they explore, and scenes can be saved and/or printed for additional enjoyment.

The second disk, "Letters," focuses on letter and sound recognition and pre-reading skills. Users visit Sesame Street, where they freely explore the outdoor environment or enter the homes of their bigger-than-life friends. The screen scrolls left or right as the child moves up and down the street, and characters and objects sparkle to indicate click-on ability. Character’s homes reveal additional exploration options, and clicking on their residents initiates a simple guided-activity. Each Sesame Street friend has a storybook, radio, television and telephone (enthralling playthings for toddlers) in their home, and many of the songs, videos and stories are actual excerpts from the television show. The third disk, "Numbers," is structured exactly like the second, but features numbers and pre-math skills.

Educational Value
A toddler’s life is filled with educational opportunities. Every observation and manipulation offers new insights into the way the world is designed. This program simulates real life experience, where interaction is the key to understanding. It allows the child to explore, while narrating and explaining the discovery process.

In addition to general learning through investigation, Sesame Street Toddler encourages computer familiarity, mouse control and the manipulation of on-screen tool buttons. Hand-eye coordination, visual discrimination, letter identification and discrimination, number recognition, deductive reasoning, and learning to follow directions are but a few of the many specific skills developed through use of this program. A "Parent’s Corner" offers facilitation techniques to maximize the caregiver/child experience.

Kid Appeal
With lovable Sesame Street characters, rich exploration environments, familiar songs and videos, and simple activities, this program turns the computer into a toddler’s favorite toy. Big, colorful graphics, although a bit jagged in form, are perfectly functional for the early learner. Younger users initially require caregiver assistance, making the program a great laptime activity that successfully entertains the adult as well as child.

Many of the program’s concepts and activities are too advanced for even the brightest of toddlers. Our review suggested that, while young users have short attention spans where complex activities like finding rhyming words or completing basic addition problems are concerned, they enjoy being exposed to these challenges and unlike older counterparts, are not frustrated by them.

Ease of Use / Install
Installation of Sesame Street Toddler Deluxe is simple and straightforward on Windows 95. Since the program is contained on three distinct disks, navigation is not a problem.

Best for... / Bottom-Line
A natural for Sesame Street lovers, this program brings the beloved charaters to the computer screen in a thoroughly delightful way.
