SuperKids’ Teen Video Picks

Some classics, some surprises, but all fun, according to our reviewers and staff members.
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
(1997) -- After being frozen in the 1960's to preserve his super spy abilities, swinging hipster/secret agent Austin Powers is released from his cryogenic state to stop the dastardly Dr. Evil from blowing up the world. A humorous spoof reminiscent of James Bond, The Avengers and Get Smart rolled into one. PG-13

Edward Scissorhands
(1990) -- Fairy tale about a boy whose creator dies before attaching human hands to his body. Depp is perfect as the fragile scissor-handed boy, and it's great fun to watch Price as his master. PG-13

Ferris Bueller's Day Off
(1986) -- Saga of a cocky teenager's day of adventure while cutting classes. Filled with silliness and slapstick, but Matthew Broderick as Ferris is charming. Fun for the whole family. PG-13

Men in Black
(1997) -- Based on the comic book by Lowell Cunningham, this film is enjoyable even for sci-fi dropouts. A pleasantly successful, tongue-in-cheek spoof of summer blockbuster alien invasion flicks. PG-13

Peggy Sue Got Married
(1986) -- Early Kathleen Turner, Nicholas Cage and Jim Carrey. Nice message about life being a chain of interwoven events. Changing one life alters those of many people and not always for the best. PG-13

Unable to have a child of their own, the couple kidnaps one of the famed Arizona quints, reasoning that the parents will still have more babies than anyone could want or need. Hilarious misadventures ensue. PG-13
