RIVERDEEP COMPLETES ITS AWARD-WINNING DESTINATION MATH SERIES WITH COURSES FOR K - 3 LEARNERS

Learning Management System Now Available for Grades 4 - 12

Cambridge, MA December 17, 2001 - Riverdeep - The Learning Company (NASDAQ: RVDP), a global leader in the development and distribution of multi-platform K-12 educational products for both schools and homes, today announced the availability of Destination Math 5.0, the latest release of the company's award-winning Destination Math series. This new version of the product includes all previous courses plus new courses for K-3 learners, making it a complete math solution spanning grades K-12.

The Destination Math series is built around a carefully sequenced, comprehensive curriculum. Using guided tutorials, hands-on interactivity, practice workouts and step-by-step problem-solving strategies, students learn by doing, apply their knowledge and build thinking skills. Lessons are correlated to state and national standards, as well as to major textbooks.

Version 5.0 of Destination Math also marks the launch of Riverdeep's Learning Management System (LMS), another testament to Riverdeep's continued commitment to developing results-driven education products. LMS delivers a unique combination of student curriculum management, standards-based testing, instantaneous reporting, and prescriptive assignments, giving teachers and administrators the tools they need to guide students toward success by continually evaluating students and linking those evaluations to Destination Math curricula.

Availability
Destination Math courses for grades K - 3 are available now online and will be available via LAN and CD in Spring, 2002. Destination Math courses for grades 4 - 12 are available now via Internet and LAN delivery. Standalone CDs for all courses will be available in Spring, 2002. Riverdeep's Learning Management System for grades 4 - 12 is available now. The LMS for grades K - 3 will be available in Spring 2002.
