Matinée Multilingual Launches $1000 Voice Over Scholarship
20 January 2016 -- A voice talent agency is supporting the dreams of academically minded youths with the launch of a new grant worth $1000. As an international organisation, Matinée Multilingual is pleased to offer the Matinée Voice-over Scholarship to high school students and graduates in the United States of America and in the United Kingdom.
For over 25 years, Matinée Multilingual has specialised in the production and translation of audio, video and multimedia content. From transcription and translation to subtitling and voice-over production, the company offers a comprehensive service in a huge variety of languages. Now, it’s investing in the future of young multi-linguals by offering a $1000 scholarship to students with their sights set on higher education.
While university education is supposed to be an equal opportunity venture, new research from the Sutton Trust found that higher debts are deterring poor students from pursuing higher education. Furthermore, the rising cost of living has led to an alarmingly high number of students now living below the poverty line. The Matinée Voice-over Scholarship exists to assist high academic achievers that are in need of financial assistance.
Chris Broderick, Managing Director said, “It’s hugely important to us that we give back to society. We see investing in the next generation of university educated professionals as an enduring way of doing so. The Matinée Voice-over Scholarship is entirely funded by Matinée Multilingual in the hope that it will help ambitious high school graduates pursue their dreams of higher education.”
True to its lingual roots, the Matinée Voice-over Scholarship will give special consideration to students pursuing a career in English or other languages. That said, the scholarship is open to anyone seeking a higher education at any college or university, in any area of expertise. An in-house judging panel will review all applications and choose a winner based primarily on academic achievement, with financial need also considered.
“Of course, we’ll be giving special consideration to those pursuing further education in English or another language, however we’re not ruling out applicants of all calibres,” adds MD, Chris Broderick.
The application process is entirely online, with students invited to apply via the Matinée Multilingual website. Scholarship applications must be submitted, in full, by December 31, 2016. The scholarship is awarded as a $1000 payment that will be paid at the beginning of September 2017.

With over 25 years of experience in the language versioning and localisation industry, Matinée Multilingual has an in-depth understanding of the linguistic, cultural and technical challenges of audio-visual translation.
The company specialises in the production and translation of audio, video and multimedia content in over 80 languages, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Chinese and Arabic.
Projects include transcribing audio and video programmes, creatively translating voice-over scripts and captions, reworking graphics and on-screen captions where necessary, inserting subtitles, and anything else that enables a customer to communicate their message in any language or territory they choose.
